WE DID IT!!!!

Preface: I promise that this will be the longest post that you ever have to read!

Wow - an amazing blessing is the only way to describe the feeling that we have right now. When we finally decided to start trying, we thought we thought for sure we would have to learn a good lesson in patience - getting pregnant on your first go around is not always an easy task. Mike, of course, was especially excited for the "trying" stage and I already had a separate budget for at home pregnancy tests. However, as fate would have it, February is our "month" and on Thursday, February 28th a little plus sign told me that my patience in waiting five years to start trying was patience enough - our little science project gets an A++!!!

So...how did it happen? Well, when I first thought there was a chance, the girls at work (the group formerly known as Team 21) drove me on over to the Long's drug store in Summerlin with the promise that it was probably too early to tell but it wouldn't hurt to try. Straight to the pharmacy we all went to buy four tests (who needs just one of anything!) and then we all piled into the bathroom like a bunch of high school teenagers stealing lip gloss. Nervously I figured out how to pee on the little stick and ran out of the stall to lay it on a "flat" surface. Sure enough, in less that three LOOOONNNNGGG minutes, a little plus sign appeared - SCORE for the Terron-I!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say, work was not easy for the rest of the day...how would I tell Mike, how would I tell my family, do I really have to wait THREE months to tell everyone?????? Well, what would if hurt if a few people knew...right? Team 21 knew, Mike should probably know ;) and of course I can't keep my family out of the loop - and if they all know, shouldn't I tell my best friends???

First things first....I had to tell Mike. Off to Target I went to find "I Love Daddy" gear. Well, let's just say Target's collection of I Love Daddy clothing could use a little help in the fashion department. I settled on a blue onesy with a baseball bat and the words "Daddy's Little Rookie" slapped on the chest. Not cute, but it would do the trick. Next I wrote him a little card telling him what a wonderful father he would be and how excited I was for the next 18 years of our lives. When I got home, he asked what the gift was. I said "oh, just a gift from Samantha that she forgot to give us from Christmas...go ahead and open it." Out came the onesy and a confused look on his face..."why a onesy?" he asked. "Not sure" I said - "open the card." DUH - like Sam would really buy us a onesy for CHRISTMAS and give it to us in FEBRUARY! Even after opening the card I think it took a minute for him to figure it out - I think the time went by even slower than me waiting for the plus sign! Finally, he GOT IT and was jumping up and down with excitement (and pride for having such strong sperm, of course). Both of us were so ecstatic we didn't even know where to start...we ended up telling my parents, his parents and sister and a few people that we just can't hold back from - I know, I know, not a good idea but I want to shout it from a mountain top!!!!!!

So, here is to a long journey (even longer because we found out so early) and a wonderful time in our lives....hopefully I can keep future posts a little less wordy - ha!
