Newport In A Jiffy

Over the weekend we took a quick getaway to Newport (specifically the Pelican Hill Resort which is OMG to die for). We were with the Merrills (who invited us and planned the amazing trip - thank you!) and the Pulliams. It was quick but we managed to hit the beach, eat, run on the beach, eat, dip at the pool, eat, enjoy the resort, and eat some more. Actually, the entire trip I was wondering where my next meal was coming from and am still feeling full from the weekend! Erin's little sister Alex came with us and took care of the kiddles at night. Traveling with someone to help out with the kids was a luxury and I think I am forever spoiled! Chase, as usual, was wonderful. He is growing up so fast. I can actually reason with him a bit now and it is such a weird feeling to have this little man that you can kindasorta talk to and not a complete baby who cannot do anything for himself. I say it all the time but everyday is so much fun with him and it was great to enjoy this trip with the little guy.

One of my favorite wedding bloggers Jasmine Star shoots a lot of weddings at Pelican. There was a wedding right here Saturday night. Ryan did his best to stalk it to see if Jasmine was shooting but he was quickly turned away. Apparently friends of blogstalkers of blogs don't have much pull around the resort.
Chase trying to clean up the beach. Sorry kid, there appears to be more sand than you can handle...
Look what swept ashore. Chase seems less than thrilled. He loved it though. Really...

Thanks again Merrills for an awesome trip!

More Inside Fun

With the breathe of monsoon season down our Las Vegas backs (but no actual rain, the rain gods apparently just like to torture us by tempting of a storm), Chase and I headed to another indoor locale for our fun today. We trekked over to our library and had our own little play date with puzzles, computers, and books of course! I snapped a couple cell pics...gotta love his oversized 80's headphones!

Resourceful.

Leave it to an out of town visitor to bring out the resourcefulness (sp?!) in me. These past 2 weeks have been pretty tough with the little man. Too hot to go to the park, too hot to go to the pool, too hot to do anything unless you are a vampire. However, Grace and Bella came to town and after a big breakfast Grace was ready to figure out what our plans for the kids were. Say what? You mean go outside?! After some thought, we settled on the Forum Shops. Free aquarium (Chase is in love with fish ever since Grandpa & Grandma took him to the Shark Reef); Free show (he loved the talking statues, not so much on the fire) and a great lunch (thanks Grace) and we had ourselves a little day!

A good reminder that there are a lot of things to do around here, you just have to look. Oh and a great reminder that it is time to sign Chase up for his fall classes...whoohoo fall is almost here!

LOVE his face here. Me? I look like I am about to get hit by lightning. I think it may be shock over the fact that I am finally in front of the camera.
Ugh. Hello Pigtails! I love!

Coloring Gone Bad

So Chase colors every day (almost). Chase has art paper that I tape to the kitchen table and then I take all his clothes off and he colors with his washable marker set. Being such a clean kid and all, he is usually pretty good about staying on the paper (and off his bod). Today we tried something different...his first Sesame Street Coloring Book. He loved the book. Staying on the paper, however,  was another story....Washable Markers will forever be my hero!

Good Morning!

Chase has a passion for his morning chores. From sweeping to vacuuming to dusting, he is the best little helper ever!

And about the chores? I kid, I kid....but his obsession is very real :)
